my friend & i were laughing about how being a founder right now is basically a weekday hobby. ai made day 0 stupidly easy because you can summon a name, a logo, assets, a half coherent product demo, all before your coffee cools. it’s insane & kind of beautiful. but that ease is

Why do large companies progress slower than small ones? While a lot has been written about the cost of communication and collaboration in these companies, I think there is something else at play as well. It's not just that communication and collaboration costs rise per se, but

Great piece by my friend @gsterling on OpenAI and agentic commerce. A few comments from me. Core arguments from me; expanded and re-written by ChatGPT. ** Retailers spent 20 years optimizing conversion funnels. Do they really want a 3rd party rearranging it? Retailers live

The same architect did the ugly Embarcadero buildings, renaissance center in Detroit, Westin bonaventure, Marriott marquis NYC and a bunch of other ugly buildings. One thing they have in common: they draw guest inward, instead of integrating with the street life. See the weird

I’m only sort of kidding. ICE manufacturers have long-tested cold weather starts and engine performance in northern Minnesota. I don’t know EV degradation (or Waymo specifically), but some self driving features deactivate at lower temps. I have an older Tesla which still has

The only real use case for year-long retention is… mass surveillance. I wonder how much less valuable (as in price) depending on retention period. Many SaaS models are priced on vectors like that. A one year dataset with longitudinal identifiers can be easily de-anonymized.

San Jose is keeping flock ALPR data for a year? That’s absurd. I want to see that use case. If the data isn’t used immediately for traffic enforcement, amber alerts or other urgent things, it should be deleted quickly. (With exception of found violations.)

Marginal improvement to @flySFO security line. I hope this was paid for by @Clear, not taxpayers. Probably not: Clear called launch “innovative public–private partnership.”  The only time I’ve saved time with clear at SFO was departing from int.l terminal on @VietnamAirlines.
