Quick question for Pythonistas: How (un)Pythonic is it to subclass built-in Python objects like str, list, and dict? class MyString(str): pass It is possible to do it, but there’s significantly more friction than there is in, say, Ruby, especially for further subclasses.

Today feels like a good time to step back and appreciate how exciting a time it is for Ruby. Imma tweet a bit about the amazing work being done by @ShopifyEng's Ruby and Rails Infrastructure team. (That's the team I help lead! I'm so proud of them!) 1/15

Making good progress with porting @RailsTutorial sample app over to Tailwind Learning a ton and lots still to do. I'll finish all the pages first then look at responsiveness afterwards. maybe also extend some features as the sample app wasn't meant to be a twitter clone

Does anyone know how to filter the long output from Rails tests? For example, for a simple failed route test, the output goes on for page after page. This is affecting @RailsTutorial readers (including its author).
