2 months ago I was released after serving 10 years in California's prison system. I was given $200 and a "good luck". $200 dollars was breakfast & gas money for the 2 hour drive home. This is the desperate situation we leave thousands of ppl reentering our society. Unacceptable.

.@GavinNewsom so you’re ok with ICE separating families and potentially taking Californians to GUANTANAMO? Without so much as a warrant signed by a judge? This is a time that calls for strength and courage. 1/

Newsom is standing by California's “sanctuary” law but has vowed to veto a Dem-led bill that would limit state prison officials’ cooperation with federal immigration agents just as Trump promises mass deportations. https://t.co/oPIsx0flqT

I remember being on a lvl 3 prison yard and reading the San Quentin News. In it they had an article about the music program - San Quentin Mixtapes. I transferred prisons and kept pulling up on Jassy until he let me in the program. Rich people problems - Thanh

I wrote this song for my wife when I was still incarcerated. I wanted her to know that I was the best investment she ever made. And how excited I was to introduce her to a whole other world called South Sac. ThanhX - South Sac

Created this account in prison to whistleblow on a life threatening situation and connect on a human level. When I came home I learned most folks just want trauma porn & didn’t care about me or my journey - so I stopped tweeting.

Aimee lost her son Ben to a drug overdose. She knows Proposition 36 will do more harm than good and make it harder for people to access the help they need. This November, vote NO on Prop 36. #StopProp36 #NoOn36

There are many barriers to adequate healthcare for currently & formerly incarcerated people. This is just one example. Until these convos are had we will continue to harm whole communities of people who deserve to be treated with dignity. Especially in healthcare.

To no surprise my next dentist visit was a short one. She didn’t care to try hard to clean my teeth because she was convinced I was a meth addict. She didn’t have the friendly demeanor she did when I was a new client. I was just someone to be judged.

Shamefully I said nothing. I knew I couldn’t convince her I wasn’t addicted to drugs. And the truth seemed to carry much more room for judgement and questioning.
