When I got my visa to live in Singapore, it was conditional on employment and net tax contribution. I could have become a PR (Permanent Resident). Which is similar to "Settled/indefinite leave to remain" in the UK. But much, much harder to attain. Which is how it should.

This is a very fair point.
Is there a reason why the illegal invaders don’t have to repay their hotel accommodation and food in the same way that students repay their loans (e.g. after they get a job) and the elderly pay for care home costs?. Been asking this for years and never received an explanation.

The anger I felt in 2020-2022 is coming back up. The same tactics used to divide us, lock us down and create a terrifying environment is back on. But this time, it's only in the UK and few other mad ex Commonwealth countries. Then you look at the US. Thank god for Trump.
