Tackling child poverty is a moral duty. That’s why I’m ending the two child limit - so every child has the chance to thrive. This will lift hundreds of thousands out of poverty and help break the cycle of disadvantage for good.

Fantastic to be at Bramley Moorfields Market which is thriving with small businesses. It was great to see local residents supporting the businesses and enjoying the food and live music. I also bagged myself a stunning lamb joint for Sunday dinner 😋

It was also a privilege to lay a wreath at Bramley War Memorial to honour the service & sacrifice of our Armed Forces. I also met with several local organisations dedicated to supporting veterans & joined the Royal British Legion selling poppies in Bramley Shopping Centre. (3/3)

I met with the team at Leeds North and West Food Bank and the Trussel Trust to hear about the challenges facing their users and discuss the action needed to address child poverty. (2/3)

It's been a pleasure to be out and about across Leeds West and Pudsey over the past month. I was delighted to cut the ribbon at the new Pudsey Sixth Form College, a brilliant new facility giving more young people the opportunity to study and succeed close to home. (1/3)

Armley and New Wortley are getting £20 million of long-term funding through Labour's Pride in Place programme - that's £2m a year for the next decade. And local people will decide how it should be spent. (1/2)

This scheme means private landlords in the area will be required by law to obtain a licence for any residential property they are seeking to let and must meet certain standards to ensure the property is safe and in a decent state of repair. (2/3)

I welcome Leeds City Council's decision to expand their selective landlord licencing policy to include the Armley area. While many private landlords operate in the right way, we know that lots of private tenants in Armley face problems with poorly maintained housing. (1/3)
