An inspiring visit to West SILC Powerhouse this afternoon, where I met with senior staff to discuss employment opportunities for post-16 learners. We are in discussions with businesses across Leeds to secure job and apprenticeship opportunities for local young people with SEND.

This morning, I laid a wreath on behalf of Leeds City Council at Victoria Gardens to mark Armistice Day. I’m grateful to everyone who attended a Remembrance service today and over the weekend. It’s vital that continue to honour those who sacrificed their lives for our freedoms.

Labour’s message to veterans and the Armed Forces community is simple: we are on your side.

Today, we pause to remember all those who have died in service of our country, and expresses gratitude to the brave personnel who continue to serve. We will never forget the sacrifice and service of those who defended our country and fought for our freedom.

This is a preposterous suggestion. Reform’s Leader of Warwickshire Council wants to make children as young as eight walk up to five miles to school. I’m a Governor at a specialist school in my ward and know that this would deter children with SEND from coming to school at all.
