Jan Morris was the last surviving member of the 1953 British Mount Everest Expedition, her death the end of an era...but her legacy lives on.

RIP Jan Morris. You forever hold an special place in our hearts as the "Gentleman of the Times" who announced to the world that Sir Ed and Tenzing had "knocked the bastard off". Jan was a lifelong supporter of the Trust. We will always remember her. https://t.co/NJnLvZi94q

New episode out today! Maybe you're locked down. Maybe you're bored of politics ... I got you. Close your eyes, stick on your headphones and dream of the mountains instead. We're climbing the 7 highest peaks on each of the 7 continents. #podcast #climbing https://t.co/i3u9f0cVvi

Today is the 96th anniversary of the disappearance of Mallory & Irvine near the summit of Everest in 1924. Did they make it to the top? Does that question matter? Who cares? And why? https://t.co/TEl90922WY @Team_BMC @FelicityBryan @ChrisBonington

Just one of global lockdown’s silver linings: Everest visible from Kathmandu for the first time in living memory. Unfortunately no tourism has also stripped away livelihoods, please reach a hand in support of Nepalese people @Himalayan_HTUK Photographer: Abushan Gautam

COVID-19 means no Everest, no tourism, and no construction work for Nepalese in the Middle East. The effect on the livelihoods of the most vulnerable is devastating. Please help if you can.

1/ Schools in Nepal should have reopened in mid-April for the new academic year, but the growing impact of COVID-19 means the govt have extended lockdown. For the poorest families, it’s vital that we are able to maintain the momentum of our work with schools.

A business leader has a duty of care to their employees' mental & physical health. Lessons might be drawn from another leader who found himself in lockdown, over 100 years ago - Sir Ernest Shackleton, a master of #emotionalintelligence: https://t.co/ysRpf9NMjm #resilience

Very sad to hear that Joe Brown died last night. What an amazing life. Kangchenjunga, Muztagh Tower, treasure hunting in the jungle ... but for most of us his greatest gift is the legacy of peerless rock climbs: Vector, Vember, Right Unconquerable, Shrike, Cemetery Gates ...
