Amazing work to get all of this together!! And of course a must visit in preparation to our Kangchenjunga70 celebration lecture on 5 June at @RGS_IBG exploring what it means to create a truly #sustainablefuture for this remarkable region and its people.
The 1st ascent of #Kangchenjunga was only possible thanks to the work of a huge porter team & high altitude sherpas. Our current exhibition on 1955 highlights their incredible work establishing the high camps & supporting the summit teams. Book a visit ➡️

This humble bottle was drumming up quite some interest last night … Congratulations to the lucky winner!!.
New Zealand born IFMGA guide Guy Cotter established his Everest guiding company @AdvConsultants in 92. This season he helped organise Expedition Leader Ang Dorjee Sherpa, to carry a bottle of @RoyalSalute to the summit of Everest for last night’s gala dinner auction.#everest70

What an honour for the children of the three musketeers of 1953 … and a proud moment for the family of Himalayan Trusts and the Tenzing Norgay Sherpa Foundation to be recognised as continuing the legacy that started 70 years ago @everest70th.
Today at Buckingham Palace, The King welcomed Ms. Sue Leyden (daughter of Lord Hunt), Mr. Peter Hillary (son of Sir Edmund Hillary) and Mr. Jamling Norgay (son of Mr. Tenzing Norgay) to mark the 70th anniversary of the ascent of Mount Everest.

Adding to the line-up of great achievements after 1953 … and taking it one step further @Venables_S 👏👏👏.
British mountaineer & writer @Venables_S became the first Briton to ascend the summit of Mount Everest without bottled oxygen in 1988. Venables reached the summit alone and decided to bivouac in the open at 8,600m before descending the following day. #everest70 #everest
