5 ICU nurses for 17 patients and 20 beds. No help being given. Nurses refusing to clock in an accept 4 patient assignments. Some floors have NO nurses scheduled this morning. 37 nurses short hospital wide. Where is admin?

@Aoretta Yes ma’am! Our manager is on the floor working now so that nobody has 4 patients. They’re 1:3 now

@RNSuperHero Holiday call outs are the worst type of co-workers.

@RNSuperHero Your coworkers choose to bang out on a Holiday! Can’t blame the system when the staff want holidays off!

@RNSuperHero For everyone saying this is a "staff callout" issue... it's NOT... the administration should have a staffing plan that accommodates sick/call outs..

@seejanenurse No it’s not a staff call out issue. They literally just didn’t schedule people because they don’t have people

@RNSuperHero Yup. We are in the same boat over here. Except none of our management or admin is helping us. 🤡 and not letting us block beds even though we’re an additional nurse short tomorrow. 4 units in our hospital are critically short tonight.

@RNSuperHero I walked into ICU one day and the house supervisor was standing at the nurses station. First thing she said wasn’t “good morning,” the first thing she said was I couldn’t refuse the assignment or else I’d be charged with abandonment…I received report on 9 patients!! 9. By myself

@genxwithlittle1 Fuck that. That’s exactly why our nurses didn’t clock in

@RNSuperHero Could part of the problem be that a lot of hospitals are staffing with travel nurses who don’t have to work holidays per their contracts?

@RNSuperHero Hospital patients and the growing nastiness of patients and their families has driven so many nurses out of the profession we are going to have to do a reset. Add that to the weather across the country and my guess is you aren't the only ones. Thinking of you and your colleagues.

@RNSuperHero Physicians should be running Healthcare. This NEVER happened when Physicians ran hospitals.

@RNSuperHero Sounds like a year ago when I showed up as one doctor with 24 patients and 22 vents to round on. And all were complete clusters because they had been miss managed up until my arrival.
