Today, as we mark 80 years since the end of the WW2 in Europe we should also remember the return to war in Europe.  I travelled to Ukraine on behalf of European Movement UK to make a film that tells the human story of Putin’s aggression and Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.

On VE Day, we remember the sacrifices that brought peace to Europe. But for millions in Ukraine, war is not history, it’s their reality. Flags in the Wind honours both past and present struggles. Watch the film and stand with Ukraine. https://t.co/Rhjeml8qE6

This feels like ground hog day but #Didsbury and parts of south #Manchester are under another #flood warning. Please stay safe and follow advice.

This weather event has been unprecedented for this part of Manchester post the creation of the flood defences. More properties have been damaged than 2020 and 2022. A big thank you to all the services and volunteers who are still working to make sure people are looked after.

I have been in #Didsbury mosque since 17:30 yesterday where almost 400 people presented after evacuation following the flooding. The vast majority of people have been put up in temporary accommodation with a few more to sort this morning.

The more I hear senior Labour figures trot out this line, the more meaningless it sounds. We left the EU with a terrible deal negotiated by an incompetent govt that has caused so much harm to British business and prosperity. We should be keeping options open, not ruling them out.

Shameful to see Manchester Labour block our motion to add Manchester's voice to those opposing changes to the Winter Fuel Allowance. A shameful debate where Labour didn't even attempt to justify their decision. The WFA cut is a bad policy and we should speak out against it.

We have been informed that a large amount of bin collections were missed yesterday all across #Didsbury. If they are not collected by 12 today please let us know or report it via the council website. #Manchester

An important statement from @gmpolice. There is a lot of misinformation and a lot of messages that start with “I have a friend in GMP that said…”. Please don’t spread misinformation and make sure you only share the information directly from GMP or the Council.

Seeing young people looting the high street, smashing up @TeessideUni and targeting taxis makes me feel sick. Rioters managing traffic depending on what race the driver is. It’s sickening and embarrassing. Thinking of all my family and friends back in Boro tonight.

My hometown in is in the media for all the wrong reasons today. #Middlesbrough is one of the most deprived places in the UK. Thugs destroying homes and businesses doesn’t do a thing for that community. They think they are sending a message, but they are destroying their future.

We should condemn people wanting to use this for their own political gain. My thoughts are with people who were injured at Manchester Airport, the family and the officer and I hope GMP stick to their commitments made this morning. Equally we need community leaders to do the same.

We have urged GMP to remain transparent throughout the investigation. Review all officer behaviour. Establish the facts and timeline. Work now with Cllrs and the City as a whole to win back the trust they need to work on behalf of us, the residents of Manchester.

Those on the extremes of our politics are looking for excuses to stoke community tensions or crusade against political correctness. The reality is this is about how our police conduct themselves so that they make our streets safer and communities feel secure.
