I finally set up my Twitter, where I will discuss issues related to development, the labour market, decent work, social dialogue and the importance of data. And probably also cats. #myfirstTweet

Gender violence (already at unacceptable levels before the pandemic) rose dreadfully this year with lockdowns. Feeling and being safe is a basic human right and equal rights is what we strive for. We should all feel safe on the street, at school, at work, and especially at home.

We owe so much to Justice Ginsburg. Her legacy in advancing human rights is remarkable and our best way to honour her is to keep on building on it. Thank you #RBG . #RBGRIP https://t.co/tdmWTv6Khq

On International #DayOfFamilies, we celebrate families as basic units of society. Using labour statistics, we can see how our marital status still shapes our labour market outcomes.

Our new database on labour market statistics by type of household (people living alone, with a partner, with kids, etc.) is available in ILOSTAT! We finally have data to see how gendered social norms and stereotypical gender roles still shape our economic decisions. #WomenCount

As the #COVID19 pandemic continues to keep us indoors, mothers are taking on most of the domestic & child care responsibilities. Our new report w/ @ilo looks at the distribution of unpaid domestic & care work within various types of households. 👇 https://t.co/zsVxG1XkOG

A quick glance at ILO data reveals a worrying fact: glass ceilings, glass walls and sticky floors still exist, perpetuating gender stereotypes in the labour market. #GenerationEquality https://t.co/myYBUeXUCg

Centuries of discrimination, patriarchy & misogyny have created a gender power gap in our economies, political systems and social & cultural frameworks. On #WomensDay, I call on everyone - men and women alike - to join the fight for gender equality. https://t.co/mDTXEhAWXp

Gendered social norms continue to shape households' decisions about childcare and the labour market. It's time we base our economic and life decisions on something other than gender stereotypes. #IWD2020 #8M2020 https://t.co/mfyAkwSlt4

Based on data for 114 countries, we know that more than 935 million workers in the world have jobs that don’t match their educational level: 72% of them are under-educated for their jobs while the remaining 28% are over-educated. https://t.co/WxhNNWOBZa

Our well-being depends to a great extent on the quality of our job, which is why it's so important to have good data on job quality. But measuring job quality is far from easy, although we gave it a solid shot with the Decent Work and SDG indicators. https://t.co/utDe56mQ6F

It's no secret that LGBT+ workers face labour-market discrimination around the world. But in order to tackle this problem, we need to be able to measure it.

The Labour Market Statistics and Analysis Academy is finally here! We worked hard with @Tamer89 to plan this event and it was wonderful to see it off to a great start yesterday at the @ITC_ILO. Special thanks to @visualsara , who is translating all our content into art.

Since 2010 there have been at least 44’000 work stoppages in the world, most of them in manufacturing. —> Data cover only less than 1/3 of the world's countries, meaning that the actual world figure is probably much higher. #strikes

"You cannot critique what you are being told by looking only at what you are being told." The discussion on the effective communication of statistics is fascinating, but I feel that this piece of wisdom by @d_spiegel applies well beyond that field. https://t.co/GRoxvMKCbP

People often use the words "work" and "employment" interchangeably, but for labour economists they have very different meanings.

There aren't many statistics out there on the labour market situation of #LGBT people, so I was glad to find this paper by @OECD : https://t.co/b69Smgbgo2 Among other data-based findings, it shows that LGBT people are 7% less likely to have a job. #InternationalLesbianDay
