We found in one context, an explanation of dark matter, material about Vera Rubin negatively impacted learning. In another, an explanation of radioactive tracers, a story about George de Hevsey using a tracer to see if his landlady was reusing leftovers, didn't harm learning.

It was great to work with @BenRogersEdu and @liamciniodwyer on this project funded by @IOPTeaching (thank you!). We looked at whether adding stories to physics explanation videos (in a quasi-experiment) impacted knowledge retention.
