We are the @RAICESTEXAS workers' union.

RAICES has failed to meet the moment we find ourselves in, as a legal services provider and supposed progressive organization. We are amid a layoff that has decimated staff, led to office closures, and resulted in the closure of most Children's cases, as well as other services.

We share these messages with you all so that you join us in raising our voice in protest of the lack of leadership, lack of foresight, and complete disregard for years of service to the mission RAICES used to stand for and is proving, it just doesn’t stand for anymore.

While our CEO collects her exorbitant salary without leading as a true leader would, many of us find ourselves amid financial and health uncertainty, given the loss of salaries and benefits. Our colleagues share their goodbye messages and their disappointment is evident.

RAICES leadership can't be faulted for the cancellation of grant funding, but they can be faulted for refusing to seek ways to continue the fight, leaving vulnerable populations at the mercy of a government groveling in the act of disappearing and removing them from our country.

RAICES has thrown its hands up in defeat, choosing not to fight, or seek funding alternatives that would allow us to continue our work. Most of us will be laid off effective June 2nd, while the fight against Trump’s illegal attacks on the immigrant community continues.

BREAKING: @BurgerKing workers in San Jose are on strike after one worker was forced to work through pregnancy complications, and miscarried her pregnancy. After returning to work, her hours have been cut to the point she made only $800/month. This is a disgrace.
