The extremist religious groups in Lebanon cannot be left to cause this March harm to everyone around them.

Finally, think of ways to pressure and educate some of the religious groups and collectives with a large Lebanese presence in the diaspora as they are also funding these religious extremists back home and growing anti-lGBTQIA hate in Canada and the USA.

5- The purpose of the protest is to show that we can make a difference to the lives of #LGBTQIA+ people back home by organizing in the diaspora, heal our feeling of collective helplessness & pressure Local government to protect the rights of our queer community at home.

4- Find ways to spread news about the protest. Tweet, tag or dm news media agencies and reporters or friends that have a large social media outreach. Connect to your MP’s, MPP’s or your local government representative to act upon the injustices and religious extremism back home.

3- allocate the Lebanese embassy/ consulate in your locale. Organize what time and day you want to protest in front of the embassy. Make sure that there aren’t any prerequisite legal requirements to protest in your Area. You might need a protest permit. #Lebanon #LGBTQIA

2- Call for a protest. Organize with community partners and individuals. Get on a group whatsap and see who has a car, who can get posters or banners, who is safe enough to be seen fighting for our rights back home and who isn’t. Who has accessibility barriers. #Lebanon #LGBTQ

1- gather your community. Reach out to community movers and shakers and mobilize by connecting over social media or whatever means you have. Connect to #LGBTQIA+ organizations and create a “collective”. SAFETY first! Make sure it’s safe enough to mobilize and create visibility.

This was a violent attack on Canada’s democratic, secular & multicultural systems. If we allow people to take the equal rights of #LGBTQIA people to be represented in the educational system, whose rights are we attacking next? POC’s? People w disabilities?People of other faiths?

The same campaign was accusing #LGBTQIA people as being rapists, pedophiles & groomers. This was a campaign of HATE & everyone who joined and lead it should be prosecuted for hate speech. Is this the society we want? Where religious extremism is taking over our school systems?

Shame on them for twisting religious extremism & hate into an “education related” campaign. the same people running & supporting this campaign would have silenced & killed #LGBTQIA people had they been back in their locales & had an option. They are creating unsafe spaces for us

#FacesOfHate these protests pose serious threats on the secular nature of Canadian society. Do not mistake this for a democratic call for reforming educational systems. This is religious extremism on the street. Religion shouldn’t make you incite violence against #LGBTQIA ppl

Is THIS not creating the environment that kills and harms queer and trans people. @JustinTrudeau @CBCNews how is this not seen as hate speech and religious extremism? The parents and family member of that child are creating an extremely unsafe world for #LGBTQIA people

The Arab world is heading more and more towards religious extremism every day. Terrorist groups and organizations are gaining more power each day. Our #LGBTQIA community & anyone who has any marginalized identity is getting more silenced and harmed each day.

This is so important. Thanks @MTVLebanon . We can’t be part of the Global economy or part of the Global sociopolitical framework, & STILL be homophobic & transphobic. You don’t pick & choose what freedoms you give yourself, & what you give others. We deserve to live in dignity.

And they’re sitting and taking the rights of #LGBTQIA folks in #lebanon . The problem isn’t the queers, it’s the toxic religious patriarchy that has no limit to how much it can violate everyone’s else’s rights.
