Building bonds between our cops and the communities they're sworn to serve is the only way forward. To our @NYPDnews precincts in Queens we visited and the residents who came out to enjoy the evening, thank you for playing your part in promoting trust and our shared humanity.

It was a busy week of community building here in Queens. And there was no better example of that than National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday. You can't have public safety without public trust in law enforcement. National Night Out boosts both every single year.

For years, residents have been begging government to address chronic flooding. We're here to echo those calls. We need Washington to boost, not cut, flood mitigation funding. And we need Albany + NYC to step up and fill that leadership void. Let's flood-proof Northeast Queens.

That investment starts, simply, with signage on flood-prone streets across Northeast Queens — warning drivers not to park or drive there ahead of severe weather. My office requested that signage repeatedly, but we've been turned down by NYC DOT. The agency must reverse course.

Last week, Bayside was under water — cars ruined, businesses flooded, trains snarled. We can't keep waiting for the next flood to destroy our property and take our lives. As my colleagues and I demanded today, we need wholesale flood mitigation investment in Northeast Queens.

Deed theft is a despicable crime that has plagued communities of color across Queens for far too long. Proud to stand with @NewYorkStateAG today to announce these historic indictments and send a message to anyone who thinks they can act so immorally — you will face consequences.

We're in Queens to announce that for the first time, we're charging two individuals for cruelly stealing the home of an elderly widow. My office brought these indictments using a new law I championed that empowers us to prosecute deed theft and protect New Yorkers’ homes.

And to all our honorees, gracias para todos for feeding, uplifting and inspiring the tens of thousands of Ecuadorians here in Queens. You embody all that is good about Ecuador and about The World's Borough. We would not be Queens without you. ¡Que viva Ecuador! 🇪🇨

To our performers who had us all out of our chairs, thank you for thrilling us with your interpretations of what being an Ecuadorian American means. And to our friends at @CEcuQueens, thank you for the jewelry and for your partnership in making this event special.

There are parties at Borough Hall. And then there are Ecuadorian parties at Borough Hall. My office's Ecuadorian Independence Day celebration last night was the party of the summer. From the dancing to the authentic food to the waving flags, it was truly unforgettable.

To @GovKathyHochul, @NYCParks and all our partners who helped fund or advocate for this center, we are so grateful. Rockaway DESERVES investment like this. We're tired of losing our neighbors to the tides. The Arverne East Aquatics Center is the way forward for the peninsula.

Once built, the Arverne East Aquatics Center will have an indoor AND outdoor pool that our families can enjoy for free. But much more than that, it will save lives. No longer will we need to fight rip currents in order to learn to swim or just cool off during a hot summer day.

Not only is this the largest allocation I've made as BP, it's also the most personal. I've become friends with too many parents whose kids drowned at Rockaway Beach, like Elyjah Chandler's mother Aminatu Noah. I lost my own niece to a drowning. This center is dedicated to them.

In my State of the Borough this spring, I promised to put $26 million toward the future Arverne East Aquatics Center. Promise made, promise kept. I couldn't be more honored today to officially present Rockway with that $26 million check as we finally make this center a reality.

Summers are for barbecues, and I’d never turn down a plate of authentic Bangladeshi food…. Loved spending time in Cunningham Park yesterday with the Jamaica Bangladesh Friends Society, as we celebrate one of Queens’ most dynamic communities. Thanks for all that you do, JBFS!

Another day, another major affordable housing investment here in Far Rockaway!. Great to cut the ribbon today on the Robert C. Wood Apartments alongside the late HUD Secretary’s daughter, @SenatorHassan, as we give 147 families a chance to live comfortably in this community.
