As @Bradford_TandA is reporting, we've updated the tunnel repair costing previously developed by AECOM and believe QT could now be made greenway-ready for £8.7M, that's £13.6M less than NH/Jacobs Crackers' concrete-encrusted figure, offering a BCR of 4:1.

In 2024 and 2025, @NationalHways examiner reached a point in the tunnel where they heard a “heavy water dripping noise” from *behind* the lining. Apparently fearful that there might be a void above it, they terminated the inspection “due to concerns of collapse”. Stop laughing.

Documents released by @transportgovuk suggest that @NationalHways no longer intends to deliver the full abandonment scheme for which planning permission is sought. Instead it will leave Shaft 1 and 120 yards of tunnel at the south end unfilled. Otherwise the cost would be ~£9.7M.

We're investing £7.5M to abandon @QburyTunnel, four years after spending £7.2M making it safe for future reuse. For pity's sake, there's a new crack. What if a shaft collapses or somebody's killed by falling masonry?.You wouldn't be laughing then. STOP LAUGHING!.@LilianGreenwood
