A successful day at St John’s College, Cambridge. Our students had a Q+A session on the application process, a tour of the city by current students and an academic taster session in biochemistry, biomedicine or the humanities.

Two of our Year 12 students, Amy and Satveer, are on their way to Poland today as part of the Lessons from Auschwitz Project. This course explores the universal lessons of the Holocaust and its relevance for today.

A fantastic turn out for the first session of the senior debate society. This was set up and is run by some of our year 12 students. The first motion debated was a fun one - 'This house believes Taylor Swift is better than Kanye West.'

Parents & 6th Form pupils: in light of current events we have started to allow students to sign out at 13.00 if they have no timetabled lessons in the afternoon. Also, students will be able to sign in by 11.00 in the mornings if they do not have timetabled lessons p1&2

One of our Yr 12 students, Kate, was selected to attend the Pathways to Property day, run by Henley Business School. This took place at the RICS office in Birmingham. It gave students an insight into property development and real estate careers.

This weeks debate club was on 'This house believes video games cause violence'. Lots of good points made from both sides of the argument. The pupils debating skills has improved alot over the last half-term.

The debate society had its first formal debate today which went very well. It is great to see that students confidence of public speaking and vocalising their opinions in a formal manner has increased over the course of this term. Mr Adams

all pupils must wear white shirts; dismissal from St Matthew’s will be at around 12.30; the afternoon ceremony requires all pupils back at St Matthew’s for 4.45; dismissal and the start of half-term at around 6.50

Any pupils on Supervised Study this afternoon are being allowed to sign-out from 2.00 as the Hall is being set up for the Old Marians' Dinner tomorrow evening. CCF pupils will remain in school to assist in this operation.
