This guy is the chief of defence forces for the Ugandan Defense force which have the largest contingent of African union troops in Somalia. These African union troops are the biggest threat to Somalia and Somali people long term than anything else.

We have reached a new low. I don’t care if Somaliland is recognized or not but this is very shameful and shows these Ugandans have no respect for Somalia and the mogadisho government.
As a long-term security expert in Somalia & a veteran of AUSSOM based in Mogadishu i’ve never understood the need to connect Somaliland to Somalia. For regional security we believe recognizing Somaliland might improve security in South Somalia, and hopefully they can join ATMIS.

The odds of the U.S recognizing Somaliland in 2025 have spiked from 14% to 26% in polymarket. It seems some big players( mostly Israel and UAE) are pushing for Somaliland to be recognized. Whether that will happen or what Somaliland will have to agree to is a different story.
