In the wake of the MSC ELSA 3 sinking in Kerala several beaches in the Kochuveli, Thumba, and Vettukad areas in the Thiruvananthapuram district are covered in #nurdles. Cleaning them is going to be painstaking. I hope their spread is tracked by the government. #oilspillindia

Like clockwork, the #mumbaioilspill has reared its ugly head as the strong pre-monsoon winds wash ashore tonnes of tarballs across the MMR every day. Reported from Juhu, Versova, Aksa and Kelwa beaches in the first week of May, the disaster continues unabated.
Tarballs, solidified lumps of crude oil mixed with sand, have surfaced on Kelwa beach in Palghar district. Shaunak Modi of the Coastal Conservation Foundation said these wash ashore annually with changing pre-monsoon winds and pose severe ecological threats. Research traces

Juhu beach was an Olive Ridley nesting site until the late '80s. It is not unfathomable that turtles have been nesting on Mumbai's beaches but we haven't been paying attention. This needs urgent attention and intervention from the authorities!.

Second Olive Ridley turtle trying to nest at Juhu beach chased away by people this month. We know of at least 3 such cases from just this month. It's time to stop treating these as freak instances and maybe think of our beaches as turtle nesting sites!.

As soon as it rains, all of this will end up on Juhu beach. I hope @mybmc takes timely corrective measures and stops this from happening again.

Surprise surprise! So many of us have been screaming this for years. The ill-planned Versova-Bandra Sealink will be the same. None of the planned exits at Turner Road in Bandra, Juhu Tara Road in Juhu or JP Road in Versova are roads that can absorb that much traffic.
Mumbai’s grand infra- Coastal road definitely helped cut down travel time while one is zooming past on it, what however has been frustrating for motorists is the jam they face once they reach the Worli end where it’s taking 30-40 mins for motorists to exit
