Provisionists... our standards are so high we have 2 of them.

Except there is. Unwillingness to understand another's position and declaring it must be how you say it is isnt great. Its not good.
@ProvisionistP @Soteriology101 There is no permission in reformed theology. People do what they’re decreed to do. He’s not permitting, He meticulously decreed. You can’t have it both ways. That’s a square circle.

Eric is another brother i appreciate. We disagree plenty, but in my interactions with him he tends to be fair in his treatment of reformed thought. We need more (on all sides) to do this.
@_DHDS @SnapThatGinger @Soteriology101 As far as I can tell there’s no inherent contradiction with affirming that (1) God predetermined the truth-value of all “active/passive counterfactual pairs” and (2) that God choosing to actualize the passive counterfactual can be properly called “permission.” Predeterminism has.

We don't believe in BARE permission. Props to @_DHDS for representing us accurately. Much appreciated friend. Interactions with people like him are much preferred.
@_DHDS @Soteriology101 Yes. That's why I was showing that you are incorrect. The fact is though, Calvinists will do both, even though they logically can't. You can't say both that God is simply allowing sin and ALSO that God determines and decrees all things. Those two things aren't possible.

Ignorancenof the OT is why atheists get away with using these bad arguments. People professing Christ undermine scripture and accuse God of evil. This pick and choose methodology is indefensible.
@Prov_Standards @scoobthethinker I am just believing what the gospel author of John wrote. When the OT says that God commanded the killing of infant babies and commanded keeping virgin girls as sex slaves, we know that is not correct - missing the grace and truth of Jesus.

Is it getting mad to correct someone to what is readily understood? We understand the decree/ordaining of all things to include His permitting sin. Also, Leightons OP is foolish. Its misrepresentation ti omit things on purpose that are relevant just to make our view sound worse.
@Soteriology101 I said “decreed/ordained all evils” the other day and some got mad at me that I didn’t say “ordained to permit” even though their own confessions don’t bother with that nuance.

This is how you treat someone you disagree with's arguments fairly. You accurately represent them. Thanks @cmienke8.
@Soteriology101 Your summary of T is wrong. They’d say you have the faculties to seek God but not the will (which is a consequence of the fall God permitted). Your summary of U is wrong. The point of unconditional election is that there is nothing in the Christian pre-conversion that makes them.

We actually differentiate between OSAS and Perseverance. OSAS leans heavy on "at one time you believed so youre good.".Perseverance teaches that those truly in Christ will be held fast by Him and will persevere until the end in the faith.
@farmingandJesus @rockreborn22 @_DavidvGoliath @ProvisionistP You still agree with their doctrine if you feel this way. Only Calvinism preaches OSAS. But we can’t always be saved because the Bible warns of apostasy, and because many use OSAS as a license to sin. Mind you, apostasy isn’t “losing salvation”. It’s a very conscious choice to.
