The history of Christ Church goes back to 1839, when the first church was erected at a cost of ยฃ2,500. Fenton then contained only a few thousand residents, but as the town grew the parish spread, the mission-church of St. Michael's being erected in 1875 and St. Matthew's in 1882.

Burnham Street: resident estimates 15-20 lorries a day. Street seems to be sinking with the weight of onslaught. Mucky brown river of silt runs from the closed up entrance of Potteries Demolition down onto King Street, then along till it disappears into a drain @SoTCityCouncil
