Bernie Sanders said yesterday that left needs to drive public sector reform: "Ideology is: Do you create a nation in which all people have a standard of living? Do you have the courage to take on the billionaire class? Do you stand with the working class? That’s ideology.

Europe doesn’t need to choose between the environment and growth. We can protect nature and grow our economies if we learn from the reforms already happening across Europe. Today for @ProgressIreland I've outlined three tactics for green growth 🧵

It’s very encouraging to see @DarraghOBrienTD is planning to set metrolink up for success with a dedicated delivery body. It would’ve been less hassle to let the existing agencies run it.

Europe used to build big things fast. The Eiffel Tower: 2 years. The Channel Tunnel: 6 years. Huge projects, quick delivery. Today? Wind farms, grids, and housing delayed for years. Part of the reason why: our environmental directives backfire. (Thread)

Given the composition of the existing stock, most of unmet demand is for one and two beds. Frank and Orla’s argument is that every new home has to work for every person in every stage of life. Sounds nice. But it is careless.
MUST READ: Orla Hegarty's powerful piece of analysis torpedoes the Government's latest dumbed-down apartment design standards by pointing out that the mass schemes of 32 sq.m studios they promote make no provision whatever for couples with children ... https://t.co/xeJ51nMoMU

In the IT @o_mcpartlin, made excellent points about compulsory balconies. Balconies are great! Like a sunroof in a car, people should be able to buy them if they want them. BUT, forcing people to spend 6-20k on a balcony is bad. Some people prefer the extra money.

The elites don't want you to know you can send cold emails to your elected representatives
More innuendo from @lorcansirr in the new @IrishPlanInst podcast. He says seomraí demonstrates that in Irish politics, "Who you know gets you the meetings". What an insane way to describe a situation where we cold-emailed political advisors.
