Having less friends from school can also be disadvantageous because for one, having more friends can snowball and allow you to meet more people (friends' friends) and develop social skills, but also because after college/uni, you don't get as many opportunities to make friends

Other than the pure logical part of it, there's also the personal regret and ache of missing out on friendships and relationships during teenage years. Then going straight into the relative cynicism of adulthood without having experienced the rawer emotions.

It's basically unintentional social sabotage because the parents think squeezing out a slightly better grade in high school will compensate for underdeveloped social skills. True, there's some benefits to it, but I see plenty go on to become successful without this extreme.

I see some misunderstanding who exactly this is aimed at, so let me explain: there are a few parents who raise their kids extremely sheltered. Their kids grow up thinking kids with normal social lives are slackers or whatever, unable to distinguish them from actual psycho kids

Idc if its boring or overused. Friends to lovers will never ever be a bad trope in fiction or in real life because I geniunely believe, your significant other should be someone you consider a close friend, if not your best friend.
