On the occasion of Vishwakarma Puja, I join crores of my compatriots in wishing our Pradhan Sevak, Shri @narendramodi ji a blessed 75th birthday. Thank you for your leadership of this great nation, & for making us the fastest growing G20 economy for 9 of your first 12 years as PM
Delighted to be in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh! Speaking at the launch of women-centric initiatives, which will strengthen health and well-being at the grassroots level. PM MITRA Park is also being inaugurated.

Asia Cup cricket is just a ploy to create an India-Pakistan series. Why else would the top-2 Asian sides be in the same pool, while #3 and 4 are in the other?. India & Pak are guaranteed to play at least 2, likely 3 matches. Why aren't we boycotting the terrorist nation?

Congrats to Sumit Nagal and Dhakshineswar Suresh for leading India back into the elite level of Davis Cup next year with a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Switzerland at Biel. I was at the South Club in 1993 when Ramesh Krishnan and Leander Paes beat Switzerland in 1993. JaiHind

It is time we Hindus woke up to the rising danger of #HinduPhobia in the US and around the world. Spread the word, and stop its spread!
Yesterday's gruesome beheading of Indian American motel owner is so sick and stomach churning to see. But not at all that shocking, given we all knew what was coming and is only going to increase - the hate crimes against Indian ethnic people in the US. Such violence is only

No, Brahma, the fall of the communists in Nepal isn't a catastrophe for India. Ever since MMS acquiesced in the ludicrous ouster of the monarchy that created modern Nepal, communists have effectively run every government in Nepal (with 3 NC members briefly as nominal PM) --badly!
For India, Nepal is not just another neighbor but one symbiotically bound through cultural affinity, overlapping ethnic and linguistic identities, and an open border permitting passport-free passage. Yet Indian influence in Nepal has steadily waned — not only because of China’s

The @usopen disdained doubles players in creating the MxD spectacle with various contrived pairings of male and female singles specialists. But the only pairing of proper doubles players, @SaraErrani and @andreavava comfortably won the title, winning the early rounds in straight

Discussing Trump's latest tariff salvo (actually just another negotiating tactic) on CNN-IBN earlier today:
I don't think we need to get too concerned or start jumping up and down about Trump's tweet: @PrasenjitKBasu, Economist I am pretty positive that India is trying its best to reach a deal which is fair to the both the nations: Saket Mishra, Investment Banker @AnchorAnandN |

Trump is driven by personal agenda, more than anything else: @PrasenjitKBasu, Economist I don't think that India would have reached an agreement with him: Saket Mishra, Investment Banker @AnchorAnandN | #trump #tariffs #India

Tibet is not exclusively China’s internal affair. China uses its military occupation of Tibet and positioning of advanced weaponry there to pose a military threat to India. Worse, it uses this occupation to make territorial claims on India. India accepted Tibet as autonomous
🔹It has been noted some people from strategic and academic communities, including former officials, have made some improper remarks on the reincarnation of Dalai Lama, contrary to Indian government’s public stance. 🔹As professionals in foreign affairs, they should be fully

A litre of Mother Dairy milk costs ₹69 per litre, Amul is ₹67/litre. In the US, the retail price of a litre of milk is $1.14 (₹97) per litre, and in the UK £1.07 (₹125) per litre. Free trade in milk will result in a flood of Indian milk in the UK and US markets, NOT the other
We absolutely must negotiate from a position of strength. The US is the largest market in the world. Any tariff advantage we can get over key competing exporters from China, Vietnam, etc needs to be seized. If we can capture one-third of China's labour-intensive exports

Today, India negotiates from a position of strength. We are self confident, we can compete with anybody in the world. This is not a weak India under Congress and UPA which would negotiate and make agreements which were NOT in our National Interests.

China has NEVER had the right to choose the Dalai Lama. The Manchu (Qing) and Mongol (Yuen) dynasties had a subsidiary role, because they were Buddhists who acknowledged the Dalai Lama's (and Tibet's) spiritual authority. Well done @KirenRijiju

China has asked India to act cautiously on Tibet-related issues, while objecting to Union Minister Kiren Rijiju's remarks that the incarnation of the Dalai Lama should follow his wishes.

ToI today lists the 5 Indian batsmen who have scored a century in each innings of a test match, and says #SunilGavaskar has done it twice. Such an elementary cricket error. Sunnybhai was the first batsman in test history to have scored a century in each innings of a test match

After we landed back in Delhi (3:07am on 8th June) instead of reaching Paris as scheduled at 10:45pm IST on 7th June, we had enough time to make it onto the next Air India flight to Paris at 4:35am (where Business Class seats were available). But inefficient gtound-handling meant
Air India is still a disaster, after 3+ years of Tata ownership. Travelling Business Class to Paris en famille, the entire Business Class cabin lost power (ie, no lights, plug points or TV monitor working) for 2 hours, and we were told that we would be making an emergency landing

After 5.5 hours sitting in the plane on the Sharjah tarmac while the captain argued with ground engineers about the cost of repairs and the time spent at the airport, it was decided to fly back to Delhi rather than go to Paris (the original destination). We landed at Delhi
