We’re participating in #RoadSafetyWeek here at Portico Kindergarten. We have started off the week by talking about how to be safe inside cars (putting on our seatbelts), how to be safe on pavements and how to cross the road safely! Lots more to learn about through the week 👍

HAPPY GREEK DAY! From Kindergarten 🇬🇷 We have loved celebrating the Greek culture today, this morning we painted our very own Greek flags, looked at pictures of the beautiful country and its islands, as well as learning some Greek words and trying Greek food. @PorticoNicole

The Pre-school have been learning all about climate change this morning. We then spoke about what we do in our homes and in nursery to help the environment. K said “my mummy recycles plastic bottles” A said “I walk to nursery with my mummy” #reducereuserecycle @PorticoNicole

The 2-3s have been exploring the school field this morning on their daily mile. They loved looking at all the different leaves and their sizes. E said “I found big leaf. It fall down!”

The Pre-School were so lucky yesterday to have Forest School with Mrs Dykes from @TownGreenPS. They had so much fun den building, mini beast hunting and exploring the woods. The outdoors makes us feel so happy! @PorticoNicole

We have been busy exploring our allotment here at Portico Kindergarten and have found some carrots and even pumpkins. One of our friends even discovered an earth worm. P said “do not worry it is friendly” We hope to come and see @solos vegetable patch again soon

Portico Kindergarten took part in yoga+breathing exercises for #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek. We spoke about how important it is to take care of ourselves and our bodies. We even have our “Ask me about” stickers to encourage the children to talk about their day.

Lots of Autumn crafts happening at Portico Kindergarten today. We used pine cones and conkers that we have collected over the last couple of days and decided to do some printing. The children loved rolling and stamping the natural resources, noticing different shapes and patterns

We have been putting an exciting new toy together in nursery today! The children have used team building skills to create an amazing ‘eco-world’ made from natural materials 🌱. Even the box has been a hit!! @TTSResources

Messy play is always a must at Portico Kindergarten! Today 2-3’s loved exploring homemade foam. We talked about it being “squishy, cold, soft, slippy.” The children (and staff of course) loved making marks & developing their fine motor skills in a fun & messy way @PorticoNicole

One of our friends have bought in some giant sunflower heads for us all to see. The pre-school decided to pick of all of the buds using tweezers to see the seeds underneath. E said “They are from my garden we give them lots of water to grow” A said “This is bigger than my head”
