Having OCD has no bearing on someone's ability to be a successful surgeon (or any job). My answer... I want to have a great surgeon. If my surgeon has OCD and they're great, it won't be because of their OCD. And if they suck, it also won't be because of their OCD.

OCD & PTSD can look the same. I’ve created a handout offering considerations for differentiating these symptoms: https://t.co/vcenQdxgo6 Thanks to our @IOCDF Trauma & PTSD in OCD SIG members for the recommendation! This & other free resources available at

Honored to be one of six professors on campus who shared our stories of mental health decline to help lower the stigma in medicine. Thanks to everyone doing this work, and to the team at Blueline, who brought these videos to life. @IUMedSchool

Insight in the diagnosis of OCD "Looking ahead to the development of the DSM-6, we recommend that (1) the criteria should emphasize that full absence of insight is rare in OCD and that (2) the term 'delusional beliefs' should be dropped." @DrAbramovitch https://t.co/gROxO1pHbq

Ask them about their service, their transition out of the military, and how civilians can help Veterans feel welcomed back into society. Each Veteran has a unique experience, and we can benefit from learning more about it. Help the conversation go further than "thanks" today!

Veterans hold a special place in my heart, both personally and professionally. This Veteran's Day, instead of saying "thank you" to a Veteran, I encourage you to connect with them.

What are you doing in the bathroom? What is ANYONE doing in there? We don’t actually know. We need a representative U.S. sample to help us establish norms which is weirdly fun while also super helpful for OCD treatment. Share totally anonymously at https://t.co/WgKbt062uf 🚽

In your opinion, how is OCD misunderstood by the general public, and why is it so important to spread awareness? These answers will also go on Instagram!

It’s hard to put into context how much time OCD steals from you. The ruminations and compulsions are all so time consuming.
