When did kids start holding the bar in DDR? (Get off my lawn. Not in my backyard!)

@Pond3r People have always used the bar for harder songs. Probably started to be more common to see when the max songs were introduced and extra stage.

@Pond3r I’m proud to say I’ve never held the bar, even when I played Expert Max back in the day!

@Pond3r Same time that these kids started putting every single dirty unwashed plate in the dishwasher! Along with fammingthe big dinner pots and pans they used without washing them as well! Hard work R.I.P

@Pond3r It’s crazy. It’s so normal now. But also, the steps have just gotten ridiculous. :-(

@Pond3r I wondered this too but some of the shit in stepmania is crazy and feels like bar holding is required.

@Pond3r DDR charts have gotten much harder since the days of DDR Extreme when there were only like 5 truly difficult charts. The bar is practically mandatory for the hardest charts in the game. You'd probably risk injury trying anything higher than a 16 without the bar.
