I’ve never expressed how much my mistakes eat at me. Mostly because I feel so bad about it that I’m too embarrassed to even bring it up. But I really do hope those who were new to the FGC enjoyed it. I do hope I was able to help in making them get excited about a Fighting Game.

…but it is SO huge to me. I don’t want to make those kinds of mistakes, *especially* getting the backstory of a player incorrectly. I feel like that’s worse than getting game information wrong. I want to make sure I give viewers every possible reason I can to root for a player.

I know some people just think I’m stupid and probably that I don’t care, but I do care a lot. I’ve never really talked about this side of commentary for me. I hate doing things like that and really beat myself up for things like that. People may tell me I’m overreacting….

…my gaffes. I couldn’t shake, for example, my feeling of absolute self disgust and embarrassment from continually getting Big Mo’s home town wrong, which was entirely my fault and in me. I just kept mentally replaying those moments in my head and cringing. I felt really bad.

…I do feel like I did that well, making sure to try and even teach FGC neophytes common concepts (e.g. whenever I said “…tried to bait out a Throw…”, I would add the word “shimmy” somewhere around that to associate that word with the context). But i can’t stop thinking about….

Had someone tell me they felt I did a remarkable job on commentary yesterday for the Modern-only Tyler1 event. That I was able to not bog things down with too much detail and was able to relate higher level concepts in very clear and easy to understand ways. (🧵👇). And while….
