It seems like a lot of the people and organisations we used to engage with on X have drifted away, or they're certainly using it less. Our focus has shifted too as a result, with more content on our @LinkedIn page instead. Give us a follow over there:

If you're a police officer in the UK and have witnessed a resuscitative thoracotomy, please email / DM @rachelgemma90 or me. We're looking at the psychological impact of officers witnessing this procedure and your help could improve support offered to officers in the future.

Myself & @ThomasBurton12 are carrying out research into the short & long term psychological impact on police officers of witnessing prehospital resuscitative thoracotomy. Please re-tweet, share & send to anyone you think it might be relevant to.

If you haven't listened to this episode of The Debrief with Jon Becker, then do! An in-depth look at the 2022 Saanich bank robbery and police ambush, with frankly exceptional content on MARCH and TECC. https://t.co/rFtzAapZvv

This past week S/Insp Booth and SC Hayden completed their Public Order Medic Course. This consisted of an intense 5 day course of tactical medicine which can be used in a hostile environment such as public disorder. ⬇️

This is a great resource for first aid trainers to incorporate into teaching, and has recently been circulated to forces through their @PoliceChiefs First Aid Forum SPOCs.

Whilst this may sound like something for healthcare professionals, out training routinely talks about people looking pale, or about reddening of the skin. It's important that we known what to look for on casualties with black or brown skin.

The pre-hospital care someone receives should never be compromised due to the colour of their skin. This handbook has been devised to showcase clinical signs of diseases on black and brown skin. https://t.co/0zf62OtbBa

Test day today for the med students - a variety of trauma first aid topics assessed: pelvic splints, chest seals, tqs, defibs, igels, penthrox etc. Some very impressive stuff. Invaluable to have @HEMSRLH students and @Ldn_Ambulance staff as stooges/assessors too.

The always awesome @_DF42 @TacTrauma #TacTrauma24 discussing public order medicine. Potential for multiple concurrent MOI. Violence is likely to involve large numbers of people, outnumbering the police. Terror attacks are over in minutes. Disorder may go on for days

An outstanding talk from @NoobieMatt, cognitive errors in high stress tactical medicine, with application to other situations. Critical patients increase cognitive load, set up for easy choices, avoid creating training scars. @TacTrauma @NAEMSP @AMPAdocs @MayoClinicEM @UWEmerMed

Fascinating talk by @NoobieMatt on decision making under pressure by police officers. The concept of cognitive scripting was particularly interesting - “Great if you pick the correct script” #TacTrauma24

Day three of #TacTrauma24 was packed with more learning! Every single speaker deserves their own post (and more) and it's incredibly difficult to just pick the highlights, but the things I took away were:

So much to talk about from day two of #TacTrauma24, and it's impossible to convey both the content and delivery of the amazing speakers we've been fortunate enough to listen to today.
