Average Joes being able to understand what they’re watching is always important. FBref helped newer fans learn to appreciate parts of what they were watching and more veteran fans test their eye test assumptions. This led to more and smarter people at all levels of the sport.
I care about the average Joe. I’m an average Joe. Sean Foreman, the founder of @fbref, cares about average Joes. He built the greatest sports stats database in history on this concept. Football is built on the back of average Joes. Anyone who doesn’t get this isn’t a fan.

@listenprofessor @PitchsidePub @fbref Football data is massively overpriced. Opta found competition in the area because of these reasons to start with and if they don’t want to be a provider of data for the football community someone else will take that spot.

I don't know if I got every detail right. My statements do require some assumptions be made and dots be connected, though I still stand by them. But it's been exciting to actually be accepted in a football world that has generally shunned American input, even if only for a day.
