Listen, I know everyone loves trade rumours, and trade rumours will be waiting for you when you want to get back to them, but let's focus on how truly impressive Nazem Kadri's NHL's career has been as he hits 1,000 games on Wednesday night.

Would love to see Zayne with Bahl. Odd they havent tried that at all.
Zayne Parekh's shot metrics at 5v5 this season among 8 Flames defencemen CF%: 59.55% (1st) GF%: 60.00% (1st) SCF%: 60.95% (2nd) xGF%: 57.96% (3rd) HDCF%: 54.05% (4th) Has Parekh made some mistakes? Yes. But so has every veteran player Zayne is doing just fine. Keep playing him

Agree
Would add to the Parekh conversation, I think keeping him in the NHL is by far the best option. Even if you have to use some of the other tools available while doing so (conditioning stint, World Juniors). That said, team is keeping every option on the table right now. #Flames

Continued... The 10 game mark used to be a big deal because players got brushed on 2nd deals. More common is teams going max term out of ELC with their studs. Paying Zayne a year further down the road only makes him more expensive to extend long term. ~Fin~

Really interesting from Eric here. IMO, Flames shouldn't be worried about 10 game mark (burning year 1 of ELC), but rather the 40 game mark (acrueing a year of NHL service) which affects arb rights, offersheet eligibility (i believe), and UFA status down the road. (1/2)...
Can report, Zayne Parekh will not play here in Nashville today (coach’s decision). Ditto for Zary. I can also tell you Parekh’s short-term future with the club is up in the air, as the first year of his entry-level contract would be burned if he plays one more game. Sending him

Zayne's second contract will likely be cheaper if they DO burn this season. I would suggest accruing a year of service time (40 games) a much more significant milestone, than the 10 game mark. This AHL rule is so idiotic. Somehow teams CAN'T do whats best for player and team.
For players eligible for slide years (like Parekh), they can play up to 9 games before their deal begins to toll. The 10th game triggers the tolling and eliminates remaining slide years.

#Flames are scheduled to practice in Ottawa early Friday afternoon before travelling to Nashville. I am at Pearson, headed home; I'll be co-hosting After Burner for both weekend games.
