Given this approach to evidence, it is to be feared that the NYT's enormous effort will ultimately amount to nothing more than a witch hunt in which the (self-created) regime change narrative replaced the search for truth long ago.

An HRW witness to the sarin attack undoubtedly describes this launcher as "October War Panorama." But what he describes is undoubtedly a HE rocket and dust from the explosion. The sarin rockets did not explode.

They refer to the UN mission report and an impact location that, for some inexplicable reason, indicates an angle that is wrong by 30° and coincidentally points to a Syrian army base. This "measurement error" was also never corrected.

While they have tacitly accepted the 2km range, the methods haven't changed. They look for the impact point closest to the front line and then extend the range to at least 2.5km. Once again, the weapons experts' red "IMPORTANT RESULT" is ignored to blame the "right ones".

8 years ago, @HRW / @KenRoth published a misleading illustration that not only showed the 30° wrong angle of the UN report, but also arbitrarily extended the range until the line crossed a Syrian Army barracks. To date, the illustration has not been corrected.
