I don't want players at the club who don't want to be there, but the fact that we are no longer attractive to top young talents is a problem. The total lack of ambition at board level is dragging us further and further into the mire.

All around the world, we are still dividing ourselves and judging others based on things like colour, ethnicity, or sexuality. I do not understand it, I will never understand it, and I don't get why people are brought up to hate rather than love.

I can't believe that anyone who has been to Auschwitz and seen it for themselves would have the capacity to do that to another human being and to repeat history, which is why it is so important that the lessons of the past are not forgotten.

Those who have seen it will know. Those who haven't, there are no words that adequately do it justice. It was too much for me, and the only way for it not to become overwhelming was to completely detach myself emotionally in that moment.

Amongst the prisoners' luggage and belongings on display, two things in particular are seared into my memory: the sight of a toddlers shoe at the front of a mountain of them, and worst of all, the abject horror of seeing an entire room full of plaited hair.

But yet, somehow, that was not the thing that affected me the most. For me, the most moving exhibitions were at the Auschwitz I site.

I will always remember two things in particular; the silence, and the state of the barracks. To imagine anyone being forced to live in such horrifying conditions is beyond me. It is beyond comprehension to me how any human could do that to another.

Nothing that I had read in a book or seen on TV could have prepared me for the eerie reality of being there myself. I spent an hour and a half at Birkenau camp, and it was sobering to learn that those selected for the gas chamber on arrival would have been there for less time.

On the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, on #HolocaustMemorialDay, my thoughts have continued to turn towards my own experience of visiting @AuschwitzMuseum in 2019.
