I kind of wish more frameworks/systems shipped with it ootb instead of phpunit. At this point, I've gotten very used to phpunit, but I have a soft spot in my heart for the experience of phpspec

PHP8 support in @phpspec and Prophecy is proceeding. Your PHP7 codebase should now work fine (if you fiddle composer reqs) There are issues still present if you start using PHP8 features like union types, but I anticipate tagged stable versions by PHP 8.0.0 release day
