Upset: Despite being 21 1/2-point underdogs to the country’s No. 22-ranked team, UAB upset Memphis, 31-24, to give Alex Mortensen his first win in his first game as a head coach. Incredible.

This would have been a day the great Chris Mortensen would have loved. His son, Alex, makes his head coaching debut at 4 pm ET, when he leads UAB against No. 22-ranked Memphis. The game is, fittingly, on ESPN2.

Ironically enough, during preseason 1992, Ozzie Newsome, Pat Hill and myself went to Baltimore to scout @MiamiDolphins vs. @Saints for @Browns at old Memorial Stadium. When Baltimore lost out on expansion, little did we know that 4 years later, we would be the team to move there.

Hard to believe 30 years have passed since @Browns left for Baltimore and became @Ravens. Incredibly, only a handful of the players on the field today were even born in 1995.

I grew up with Gulf Coast Wrestling…Cowboy Bob Kelly, Rip Tyler, Mike “The Hippie” Boyette, The Wrestling Pro, Mongolian Stomper, Austin Idol…then, the WWE and Hulk Hogan came along and changed everything. Went from “territories” to national and global. #RIPHulkster

Lots of memories here all day. Hearing my friends, “JR” (Jim Ross) and Jerry “The King” Lawler on the call, showing so much respect for Hulk Hogan, just magnificent and so well deserved. #RIPHulkster

In 1968, Terry Bollea led the West Tampa Little League in home runs. In 1974, Randy Poffo played for the Reds Single-A affiliate, the Tampa Tarpons. They dreamed of being MLB players. Instead they became Hulk Hogan and Randy “Macho Man” Savage.

WWE would not be where it is today without the larger-than-life characters that compete in the ring … and few, if any, loomed larger than Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea. He was the archetype of what it meant to be a “Superstar” - a global sensation that inspired millions to work
