Tate allies have blamed inaction on #FOIA expansion on lawmakers boycotting session. But Tate didn’t refer the bills to the Ethics Committee, which wanted to hold hearings + there were 170 days between when the bills arrived in the House and the start of the boycotts.
Michigan House Speaker Joe Tate and his team worked to delay or oppose an array of ethics reforms, Democratic lawmakers say. He’s the 1st speaker in a decade to not allow a vote on subjecting the Legislature and governor to open record requests.

MIRS CALLS: Justice Kyra Bolden and U-M Law Professor Kimberly Ann Thomas have won election to the Michigan Supreme Court. The partisan-nominated split will be 6 Democrats to 2 Republicans.
