If El-Sayed gets traction in Wayne County and can pair votes there with backing from progressives across the state, it seems he would have a path in the primary. Remember in the 2018 gubernatorial primary, it was Shri who took a lot of votes in Wayne.
New Destiny Christian Fellowship pastor Rev. Horace Sheffield is endorsing @AbdulElSayed for Michigan’s U.S. Senate seat: “I think it’s more than time that we give him an opportunity to change what’s going on in this time.”

Lansing made the @detroitnews front page today. Great story by @prima_donnelly. But should have come with a commemorative poster. “For someone who’s been clobbered by trucks for nearly a century, Big Penny looks pretty good.”

A Lansing bridge with a low clearance has always been a bane for truck drivers but has recently captured the imagination of the capital city.

This bill reminds me of a long-ago scandal in Jackson County in which a road commissioner had a crew dump off and roll some leftover asphalt on his driveway. If you don't know where an elected official lives, how can you know if they're getting their driveway paved on your dime?

Maybe, I'm missing it. But this bill doesn't appear to address a situation where a lawmaker's spouse is a registered lobbyist. Could the information on a spouse's lobbying clients be concealed?
The personal financial disclosure constitutional amendment that Michigan voters approved required lawmakers to report "sources of unearned income." This bill the House is advancing would allow lawmakers and other state elected officials to conceal NAMES of employers.

From a journalism perspective, trying to figure out if Michigan lawmakers live in the districts they represent would be quite difficult or impossible, under this bill.
