Yet Afghan women are still organizing, still leading, and still hoping the global community won’t turn away.

🔹 Forced early marriages are increasing, along with suicide rates among women. 🔹 Afghan men, once allies for women’s rights, are being co-opted into enforcing oppressive restrictions.

🔹 Women and girls are now unable to receive an education beyond grade 6. 🔹 Online learning for girls exists in theory, but most families lack the resources to access it.

I recently returned from Afghanistan, where I visited @UN programs serving Afghan women and girls — many of whom are now cut off from education, jobs, and even basic health care. While the UN continues to deliver services, the situation is deteriorating rapidly. 🧵
