Calling them "emergency funds" obscures the fact that they're legally required funds Congress has provided & the president is choosing, once again, not to spend. It's a recapitulation of the torching of the power of the purse that is (or should be) the reason for this shutdown.
There is money to feed the hungry. Trump is choosing to starve them instead, just as he did when he destroyed USAID. This is a humanitarian crime. And yet we can’t even get Mike Johnson to open up the House, much less call for hearings and oversight.
