Our new @Nature paper just out, led by Budianto Hakim, on the discovery of stone tools in Sulawesi, Indonesia, dating to >1 million years old. This is on par with the earliest hominins in Flores, and is well before our own species arrived! .

Nature - Early Pleistocene artefacts at Calio suggest that Sulawesi was populated by hominins at around the same time as Flores, if not earlier.
