Falconer confirms: people will die under his AS bill because they are poor. “Where the reason…is because in your mind you are influenced by your circumstances—for example, because you are poor—should you be barred from having an assisted death...? In my view [you should] not.”

At the end @Rebecca_SPaul and I managed to get Kim Leadbeater to admit that under her Bill a person would be able to get an Assisted Death for the sole reason of saving their relatives money. 3/3

Over the last 2 days the Assisted Suicide Bill Committee has REFUSED amendments to exclude people with impaired judgement, the depressed and suicidal, prisoners and homeless people, those 'unduly influenced' by others, or those who are doing it because they feel a burden. 1/3

Afternoon making even clearer so much should have been consulted on and asked before bill put to MPs. Scale of change suggested in a single day and issues raised, really indicates a re-write of major parts against backdrop of problems with palliative care. 🚨Lack of

6/ This is beginning to look like an unserious exercise. The committee was voted against hearing from the Royal College of Psychiatrists and had to be publicly embarrassed into reversing position. Same with Disability Rights groups. Now it doesn't want to hear from abuse experts.

1/ This is breath taking. One of the responsibilities of the assisted suicide committee is to consider safeguards against domestic abuse and exploitation of the elderly. Diane Abbot's reasonable amendment asking for this has just been voted down. This is outrageous.
Leadbeater rejects proposal from Diane Abbott to hear from charities working with those vulnerable to domestic abuse and coercion, particularly older people (versus academic expert) Naz Shah tried really hard to change minds. Committee votes no.

Does anyone know on P462, if the wholesale price is above the CfD strike price in a constraint period, and CfD costs are properly entered into BM bids, does this mod lead to making bid prices more negative in such periods?

We conclude that there is a need for further and potentially more radical change to the status quo. What is less clear is what change should look like. We see 2 options:

3) The current dispatch mechanism doesn’t facilitate effective optimisation of costs and unit constraints over time

2) incomplete ESO visibility of market outcomes and limited access to some resources impacts coherence between wholesale and balancing

Key messages: 1) energy markets do not provide scheduling incentives in line with system needs and operational requirements

In among all the records being broken in the GB power system this weekend, there was another curious phenomenon with some of the batteries. With the negative prices, batteries in the south of the...
