Thank you for attending my TEDTalk on chip tariffs.
It is the Week Ahead for August 4th. Here’s what I’m following:. Tech earnings. Huge week last week and a big week coming up. We have chipmaker AMD, Palantir, SuperMicro, Lattice Semi, and IONQ. Results were very strong the last two weeks and I’m expecting the same. I’m

A few of the best pull quotes. I just got transported to a time when everybody feared Intel. This is literally how Barrett acted and talked:.-“The current Intel CEO’s comments about not investing in new technology (14A) until customers sign up is a joke. To win in this space you.
The is getting better by the minute. The chip cowboy Badass Craig Barrett speaks!! This is the old and badass Intel that everybody feared. Summary: .- The U.S. needs a domestic, leading-edge logic manufacturer, and Intel is the only American company positioned to do it today.

There could absolutely be some truth to $NVDA and $AMD paying USG 15% of revenue on H20s and MI308. If you look at the deals Lutnick and Bessent have been cutting on tariffs, there have been elements of shared success baked in. The Japan tariff plan has this. And then there’s $MP
Nvidia and AMD have agreed to pay the US government 15% of revenues for AI chip sales to China as part of a deal for the export licenses granted last week, the FT reports, citing unnamed sources. US export licenses were granted for Nvidia H20 and AMD MI308 chips. $NVDA $AMD $TSM.

After talking with many smart people this weekend, here’s what LBT needs to do tomorrow:.1/ CLOTHES: Wear a suit .2/ PIN: Wear an American pin.3/ INGRATIATE: Tell DJT he’s the greatest President this country has ever had (I’m not joking folks).4/ HERITAGE: Talk about your 40.
It looks like Lip Bu Tan is headed to DC to cut a deal with DJT. This is a very good sign. As I said, if he didn’t get up there in a week, it’s over. I hope Tan does a lot of listening and has asked smart people around him for advice. $INTC

To spin Intel Foundry now, you could have:.1/ Big (>50%) sovereign fund investment with USG oversight on board decisions regarding national security.2/ Anchor tenants that span highest performance/power and lower power digital. We need big CPU/GPU/ASIC and smaller, more efficient.
When I was at AMD, we had to spin GF. It was real hard. Both AMD and GF would have gone bankrupt without Mubadala. Who would be the source of funds for a fully spun Intel Foundry?.

$INTC Foundry will wind up being spun off to become U.S. Foundry with controlled U.S. IP. Not what I had hoped for but that is my prediction at this point.

Modi is playing a good game here. Get a coalition aligned against the US on trade, with India-Russia-Brazil. Interestingly, he’s re-arming his country for a potential war with China. Does he want Russian planes and weapons, or does he want US ones? Someday, maybe 10 years from.
Had a good conversation with President Lula. Thanked him for making my visit to Brazil memorable and meaningful. We are committed to deepening our Strategic Partnership including in trade, energy, tech, defence, health and more. A strong, people-centric partnership between Global.

This is a big win for $AMZN. This is the first approval for any autonomous vehicle without a steering wheel to get approved. Game on with @robotaxi and @Waymo.
Amazon's autonomous vehicle company Zoox has received approval from U.S. regulators to operate its purpose-built electric robotaxis that lack steering wheels, mirrors and conventional vehicle controls on public roads. (Photo: Zoox).
