Exactly 24 hours ago, the government of Nigeria announced the suspension of @Twitter operations in Nigeria. Since then, the country has lost N2,177,089,051 ($6,014,390) based on the Cost of Shutdown Tool. The loss continues at a rate of N90,712,044 ($250,600) every hour!

BREAKING: The @ecowas_cedeao Court has just delivered its judgement on the #TwitterBan case and declared the suspension by the Nigerian government unlawful. They also ruled the action inconsistent with the African Charter and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

Good News: The two chambers of Nigeria's national assembly @nassnigeria have now re-passed the Digital Rights & Freedom Bill, after reviewing and correcting a clause flagged by its Legal Services unit. We look forward to President @MBuhari 's assent to the Bill to make it law.

It's been 48 hours since @NigeriaGov announced a #TwitterBan via @FMICNigeria . If citizens and businesses didn't adopt tools that have helped them continue to use the social media platform, the loss to the country's economy would be N4,354,178,101 ($12,028,781) by now.

Exactly 24 hours ago, the government of Nigeria announced the suspension of @Twitter operations in Nigeria. Since then, the country has lost N2,177,089,051 ($6,014,390) based on the Cost of Shutdown Tool. The loss continues at a rate of N90,712,044 ($250,600) every hour!

When similar network disruptions happened in October 2017, we obtained a copy of the letter showing that @NgComCommission asked a private company to help block 21 websites in Nigeria. We followed up by sending an FoI request that wasn't responded to, so we sued the NCC.
