in 1937, the Odessa cell was exposed and he was killed along with many other anarchists. The cells which survived went onto rise up with the neomakhnovist partisan army of Osip Tsebriy and resisted the nazis until its liquidation in 1944.

It's worth noting his activity didnt end after the collapse of Makhnovshchina. He, and other Kontrrazvedka members, remained in the USSR to establish dozens of anarchist cells across Ukraine. He also aided many former Makhnovists in escaping over the Romanian border.
