The A198 has re-opened at its junction with Main Road, Dirleton, following a report of a fire reported around 10.50am on Thursday, 4 September, 2025. A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing. Motorists are thanked for their patience.

On 23rd August. #DalkeithRP were conducting speed checks on the A1. They stopped a commercial vehicle for travelling at 76mph when it is limited to 60mph on A roads. No part of the A1 is motorway in Scotland. #DriveSmart

On 23rd August, #DalkeithRP were conducting speed checks at Queen Margaret University Junction on the A1 in the 50mph area. Two driver were driving in excess and could not be offered a fixed penalty and have been report to the Procurator Fiscal. #DriveSmart
