Newton’s apple is just one of many stories with this fruit in the leading role 🍎 We also reach for it – sometimes in a historical context, sometimes… at breakfast: straight from the orchard, juicy, organic #apples and #plums. A feast for the eyes and the taste buds!

The checkered blouse from the exhibition “The shadow has remained” holds the story of Zofia “Żaneta” Książek – a young Warsaw insurgent who lost her sight but not her spirit. You can see it until Aug 20 at the #CMJW in Opole. We invite you!

St. Mary Magdalene Church in Łambinowice is a typical example of Neo-Gothic architecture from the years 1873–1874. According to historical sources, during #WWII, it served as a symbol of faith and hope for freedom for the prisoners of war who observed it from a distance.

“Only a Shadow Remains” is an exhibition dedicated to remembering the captivity of Warsaw Uprising insurgents in Stalag 344 #Lamsdorf. It stands out for several reasons: filled with youthful expression, stimulating the imagination, and boldly arranged within the museum space.

On 28 July 1914, #WWI broke out. One of its witnesses? This mess tin 📷 from the #CMJW collection. Once part of a Russian soldier’s gear, it passed through POW camps like #Lamsdorf, #Tuchola, and #Czersk. Unusual—decorated with a view of Moscow and Russian painting.

Presenting a masterpiece of POW craftsmanship❗️.A stove from Oflag II C #Woldenberg, built by 2nd Lts. Witold Rytwiński, Józef Tokarczyk, and a third unknown POW. Known from a camp brochure and poem as a “wonder of the world” and a symbol of luxury—sadly, it hasn’t survived…

Once again, we’ve helped preserve the memory of POWs❗️.This time by speaking with the family of Staff Sgt. Jakub Worek—a soldier of #WWI & #WWII, POW in Stalags XVII A Kaisersteinbruch and VIII B #Lamsdorf. A story of a father, grandfather, and a family torn by history.

A school keepsake… in the middle of summer? Yes - and a special one!.It’s a student record from a vocational teacher training course in Oflag II C #Woldenberg. Proof of the determination of its owner, who began his path to teaching in 1934 and finished it in 1943, in a POW camp.
