Police Officer in the big North. Got a few skills. Often seen smiling. Doesn’t like day shift. Views are own. Do not report crime here. Cheers.

I…. Have no words😶
All the evidence, from the Police Inspectorate and the Home Office itself supports this conclusion. Stop and search does not work in detecting or preventing crime. https://t.co/iWtAiYA084

I think a key thing to remember here is that if Mr Kaba had stopped his vehicle/complied with police, he’d still be here. He chose to use that vehicle as a weapon, he created that risk for the officers. His actions led to the officer making that split second decision.

Jury weren’t deliberating for too long on this one. Common sense and facts prevail.

Whilst the full details aren’t known, this reads really uncomfortably for front line officers. No wonder cops are handing in tickets and afraid to use force, let alone pursue suspects in vehicles and now even on foot…
Met officers to appear in court on assault charges Three @MetPoliceUK officers will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court after a man was detained while fleeing on foot following a vehicle pursuit in north west London. ▶️ https://t.co/zobRF9ZEbO

The judge said the genuine grief over young girls' deaths was "hijacked" and rioters have "disgraced and damaged" the reputations of the Merseyside town and Liverpool.

Southport, Walton, Rotherham. Busy few days supporting colleagues on mutual aid. To residents who stood up to the violence & prevented further damage, thank you. Those who launched fireworks, piss & whatever they could at us, achieving absolutely nothing, enjoy what’s coming.

Say what you will, this is the best of British policing. The bravery of these officers being faced by that threat, they remain controlled and calm. A fair few pints and commendations for all involved. Thoughts are with the family of the young boy killed and other victims.
The moment a suspect was tasered and arrested after a 14-year-old boy was killed in a sword attack in Hainault has been captured by a doorbell camera. Read more here ⬇️ https://t.co/yUfOqJWsLo

Grieving family member asked me if they could bring the family dog into the room to say goodbye to their owner who had passed away at a sudden death today. Honestly that broke me.

The constant clashes between frontline police and NHS (hospitals) on Mental Health patients never ceases to amaze me. I think the introduction of Right Care Right Person in some forces is making partner services feel very uncomfortable… but it’s the right way forward.

I’ll add to this, a pursuit consideration is the identify of the driver, which most of the time we do not know. If the driver is known, they can be picked up at a later date & no pursuit. You’ll be shocked to hear we only find out a persons identity once the vehicle is stopped.

If a pursuit is deemed too high risk, it’ll often be aborted either by the pursuit commander or pursuit manager in a control room. Often when our lights go off, the subject continues to drive as if they are being chased. We cannot stop that.

Pursuit training is all about risk/proportionality. It’s drilled into us, we do what we can to manage risk towards subject/public but ultimately we cannot control what the subject does or when they choose to drive above their ability.

If you don’t want police to pursue, just stop your vehicle, which law abiding citizens do when the lights go on. Surprisingly the ones who don’t stop, have something to hide, do we just let them go and crime go up? 1/2

Half way through November, so far I have: - Attended 2 hangings. - Arrested 9 persons. - Performed CPR on a baby - Had to squeeze through human poo to check it for drugs - Constantly supervised 3 suspects in custody I’ve worked 8 days in November. It’s just #TheJob

That kick could have been a lot more serious a few inches higher. Perfectly justified and appropriate use of taser. Well done to the officers.

Interested in the X communities response to this… I have always arrested for failing to appear at court for ‘An’ offence and never the original offence, custody always ask what date/court they failed to appear for and whether the warrant is backed for bail…
@grahamwettone Fail to appear is only an indication that they have not turned up for court. The arrest would relate to the original offence for which they were wanted, eg, if FTA for robbery, one would arrest for robbery. Can only imagine they'd run out of units.

Having done this job for a number of years, I can now see why police officers become train drivers.

There are more staff working in your local McDonalds than there are response officers to deal with 999 calls in your local area. Pass it on.
