One of my first big scoops was obtaining a yet-to-be-released executive order the first Trump administration was circulating. I wrote that it sounded like pharma lobbyists wrote it. A new FOIA shows that pharma lobbyists DID write it.
Trump policy largely avoided challenging drugmakers, focusing instead on antagonists that PhRMA identified — agencies, regulations, foreign countries. Instead of challenging drugmakers, Pres. Trump championed their cause & made their priorities the core of his drug-pricing plan.
