LEGENDARIUM X ALPHA BOÖTIS Shadowheart is a straight bop, and I had a blast remixing it into a synthwave banger! Thank you @LegendariumBand for trusting me with your song. https://t.co/8DyEk28b8v

I'm really proud of this rock version of Massive Attack's Teardrop that we played with @Diplomatesmtl Manifesting all the pent up energy of the original is so powerful

Ah yes, the good ole "Prog metal is bad but these specific bands are okay, they're not prog metal because they are good"

Oathsworn is absolutely bonkers! The best parts of a tactical combat and a choose your own adventure. The story and lore is also good, while also leaving you lots of space to roleplay

This is kind of ads I am getting nowadays... Ffs Canada is in a unique position to stop climate change by stopping investments in oil and gas and by throwing all of that money and labour behind renewables. Fuck off big oil

I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?" As an SRE and sysadmin with 10+ years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.

Katatonia were absolutely fantastic tonight! The Ocean were also on fire and they played a ripper of a set! It's inspiring how Jonas' voice is in the best shape it's ever been at 47.

HAZE OF INSECTS FILLS THE AIR https://t.co/p5dIg2txV9 Ashbreather were already a band I liked, but with Hivemind, they have created a truly amazing work of art and are now a band I love. If you like sludge, prog and stoner riffs, don't miss out

Imperial Triumphant - Spirit of Ecstasy A challenging but rewarding album. I wasn't a fan of the guitar tone at first, but it made so much sense in the overall production that it stopped bugging me by the third track. Love the Voivod vibes and the atmosphere /

Amorphis - Halo The first album so far that I had already listened to (a bunch!). Amorphis are in top shape and they deliver some stellar melodies, crushing riffs and perfect pacing throughout. Might be my favourite of theirs! /

Doldrum - The Knocking... Grandiose, conceptual, intricate songwriting. This album promises more depth than what I perceived on first list, but doesn't have many memorable moments. It meanders a bit, but in a pleasant way /

Midnight - Let There Be Witchery This album is pure fun. Tongue in cheek black metal that is catchy as fuck, what else is there to say. I'll show this to my bandmates who love Powerwolf, and I might just get them into black metal this way XD

Still/Form This band scratches a similar itch to Daughters (and without being fronted by an abuser!) so I'm really glad to have listened to it. The noisy riffage and punk-ish drums pair really well with the sullen screams of the frontman. Will definitely come back to this record/

Sigh - Shiki I heard many good things about this album, and they were right. The riffs are amazing, and the variety of textures and pacing throughout this album was delightful. I had never listened to Sigh before, but this album makes me want to do a deep dive into their discog /

Gaerea - Mirage The first few songs were neat, and I dug the atmospheric layers that sat on top of the angry riffs. The vocals are passionate, but the songs still fell a bit flat in terms of pace and hooks imo. /

Temple of Void - Summoning the Slayer This one is a skip for me. The first song left me completely bored and the production irked me. This is not the kind of death metal I enjoy. /

Every year, I try to stay up to date on new metal releases, and every year I fail thoroughly. I usually catch up with year-end lists, and since Decibel is always the first of the big ones to be released, I usually start with that one. So let's do an album by album thread, eh/
