En su discurso, Su Excelencia el presidente Peña celebró los logros nacionales de Paraguay y presentó una visión audaz para el futuro, en la que se reconoce la educación temprana como un motor clave del crecimiento social y económico.

Just weeks earlier Paraguay’s Minister of Education, His Excellency Luis Ramirez, joined global leaders at the Education World Forum, reaffirming the country’s dedication to educational progress.

We’re proud that Programa NELI is part of this initiative, supporting thousands of young learners in Paraguay.

In his address, His Excellency President Peña celebrated Paraguay’s national achievements and outlined a bold vision for the future, with early education recognised as a key driver of social and economic growth.

A significant moment for Paraguay and early education. This week, members of the OxEd team were honoured to attend the first-ever Canning House Lecture delivered by a Paraguayan President.

This allows them to focus their time on students with more complex issues, and the need for fewer, more costly interventions later in school.

Although managing the complexity of needs in schools can be challenging, an intensive focus on oral language has many long-term benefits, including reduced demand for special education support and less pressure on speech-language pathologists.

The good news is, if identified early, delays in oral language development can be ameliorated.

Language difficulties can have a cumulative effect throughout a person’s life. Students with poor language skills are, as adults, less likely to obtain higher levels of education, have lower incomes and are more likely to suffer from mental health problems.

With far too many children arriving at school simply not ready to learn, we're deeply committed to helping every child thrive. Oral language is the heart of learning, and we're thrilled to continue supporting schools in closing the gap with the @teachNELI Programme.

The Department for Education has extended funding for NELI in England until 2029! . This funding commitment is part of the plan to extend early language support in the new ‘Giving Every Child the Best Start in Life’ strategy.

That’s why focusing on building strong oral language skills isn’t an add-on; it's core to how we help every child succeed.

Language is the heart of learning, not just in English lessons, but across the entire curriculum. Whether pupils are solving a word problem in maths, following a method in science, or expressing their thinking in history, strong oral language skills are essential.
